I have a CB radio, but not really anyone else to talk to, and I was wondering weather the trucker channel has changed from channel 19 to anything else.
Also, whenever i try to talk on the radio, my CB, keeps turning off for some reason, it doesn’t do it as much when I am driving, so it makes me think that it is not getting enough voltage. Am i right in thinking this, or is it just the CB?

When you say “turning OFF” do you mean power wise or sound wise. I was thinking that your Squelch is not properly set. Last I heard, Ch. 19 was the trucker channel. Then again I have never been on CB. Mostly the amateur bands. 10-4 good buddy.
I have a CB in the car. They may fade but they will never go away. They are still very useful. Check your squelch, that it is all the way up. Also, you could have a loose power connection. Check that. I doubt you have a low voltage problem. And get your antenna tuned. Find someone with a tuner. I have one but I live in Pittsburgh. Channel 19 is still the trucker channel.
Hey, channel 19 is the correct “trucker” channel.
how do you have your radio installed? with a cigerate lighter? or did you run power and a ground wire, it seems like maybe the power connection isnt all that tight, it may be a little loose or something… also make sur the ground has a nice connection too…
hard to tell with out looking at it…
oh and you guys on the cb, check out my page,
Good Luck
i haul fuel in the state of wyoming and all of us truck drivers in wyoming talk on channel 19
Check the power connections. Make sure there is good clean and secure metal to metal contact. The supply voltage to the CB will drop slightly when you transmit because it draws much more current from your battery than when receiving. A bad connection will cause the voltage to drop even further. Your battery will charge when you are driving so the voltage will be a little higher than when you are stationary with the engine turned off.
There may be a few local variations but channel 19 is still used as the truckers channel.
