For the best performance, yes. You can buy a magnet-mount antenna for as little as $15. You can also buy a device that allows you to connect to your standard am/fm car radio antenna along with the car radio; I’ve used them in the past, and the results were satisfactory, but not as good as with a separate cb antenna.
its a different antenna entirely with a co-axial cable. It then needs to be adjusted with a SW Meter to match the wavelenght with the radio or you cannot transmit.
ALL CB radios require an antenna to work properly.
The only CB radios that DON’T need an an external antenna are walkie talkies.
If however you have a car radio or a base station set you definitely DO need an external antenna.
